The 13th Floor Elevators
Vinyl LP Package
The 13th Floor Elevators were a pioneering psychedelic rock band formed in Austin, Texas, in the mid-1960s. They were one of the first bands to describe their music as "psychedelic," and their sound was characterized by the innovative use of electric guitars, amplifiers, and the use of the jug as a musical instrument.
Their debut album, "The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators," released in 1966, is considered one of the first psychedelic rock albums and featured the classic tracks "You're Gonna Miss Me" and "Splash 1 (Now I'm Home)." The band's music was heavily influenced by LSD and other mind-altering substances, and their lyrics often reflected themes of altered consciousness and transcendence.
